BUILDING THE FUTURE TOGETHER!

Vulcan Steel Structures Helps Build the Foundation for Tomorrow’s Workforce

Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) has broken ground at the Moultrie Veterans Parkway campus for its new Technical and Industrial Building. This cutting-edge facility will transform technical education in South Georgia, housing programs such as Automotive Technology, Carpentry, Welding and Joining Technology, and Industrial Systems. It represents a $25.4 million investment in workforce development and community growth.

The 79,635-square-foot facility, designed with innovation in mind and manufactured by Vulcan Steel Structures, features Vulcan’s three-coat Kynar SL216 standing seam roof—an ideal choice for projects like this one, which include multiple hip and valley roof connections.

This impressive project is being led by All State Construction Group, Inc. as the builder. “We are proud to collaborate with All State Construction Group on a project that has such a meaningful impact,” said Vulcan President and CEO Steve Browning. “This building will not only benefit SRTC and its students but also the entire region.”

With this facility, SRTC is poised to become a cornerstone for workforce development in South Georgia, empowering students and supporting the industries that rely on their skills.

After his time as an erector, Keith worked his way up through the shop, learning each position along the way. He eventually became Plant Manager, a role he earned through years of hands-on experience. But that wasn’t enough for Keith. He later moved inside to learn the art of detailing a metal building system. His extensive experience in both erecting and fabrication set him up for great success in detailing and quality checks.

A few years later, Keith’s restlessness led him back to the shop, where he took on the role of Quality Control Manager. This was where all his previous experience came together. He excelled in maintaining our high standards for quality and fit, ensuring every project met our high standards.

As time moves on, you have to face the physical demands of working in the plant, and Keith was no different. But instead of slowing him down, it led to a new chapter in his career. Today, Keith is once again in the office, where he serves in a variety of roles to assist with production needs and customer service. However, his most important role now is as a mentor to many of our younger, less experienced employees. It’s been incredibly gratifying to see him step into this role because there’s no one better suited to teach them the ins and outs of this industry. Keith has an immense amount of knowledge to share, and his willingness to mentor others reflects his commitment to the business and to those just starting their careers.

I’m proud to see that Keith has locked onto this industry like a bulldog and never let go. He’s been an invaluable part of what we’ve built here at Vulcan, and I’m incredibly thankful for everything he’s done and continues to do.”

– Steve Browning, President and CEO

“Having served in positions in erection, manufacturing, drafting and customer service, Keith can foresee and resolve a problem before it happens. He can simply look at a fabricated part and tell if it is detailed or fabricated improperly. When Keith served in the quality control check position in manufacturing, it was rare for a mis-fabricated part to reach the field.

Keith has field experience and ability to relate to and communicate with erectors, along with manufacturing and detailing experience, making him uniquely qualified to serve in a Customer Service role when needed.

Keith is dedicated to his family and a die-hard Georgia Bulldog Fan! His devotion to the University of Georgia Bulldogs have earned him the nickname “DAWG” among his peers.

Working alongside Keith for 25-years, though thick and thin, in easy times and sometimes tough issues, has always been a pleasure. Keith has the innate drive to continue to move forward and resolve whatever challenge.”

 – Jeff Spradley, Executive Vice President

“Words cannot describe how fortunate we are at Vulcan to have Keith Blunt as a member of our team.  Keith’s immense wealth of metal building knowledge and ability to service our builders in the field is a unique combination of talent that is a result of all the time and effort he has put into this industry.  The bottom line is that Keith is a legend, both at Vulcan and in the metal building world.  Furthermore, Keith’s mentorship of the next generation of metal building professionals at Vulcan has made him an indispensable asset for our team, and I am grateful for his nearly three decades of faithful service at Vulcan.”
