Vulcan’s Expertise Delivers Educational Excellence in Wakulla

The War Eagle Career Academy project, spearheaded by Sperry & Associates Inc., consists of 10 buildings, covering approximately 54,000 square feet provided by Vulcan Steel Structures. The Triumph Gulf Coast Board voted unanimously to award a $20 million grant to the Wakulla County School Board to create the War Eagle Career Academy, a free-standing facility that will embed career tech education (CTE) training in the curriculum for students in rural Wakulla and Franklin counties in partnership with Lively Technical College.

The buildings are outfitted with 2″ insulated metal wall panels, ensuring high energy efficiency and structural integrity. The roofing system is a composite design featuring 22-gauge B-Deck and 24-gauge SL216 (Kynar) panels, with a 20-year Single Source III no-dollar-limit weather-tightness warranty. Additionally, 24-gauge Artisan (Kynar) soffit panels are attached to purlins in open areas and various eave and gable extensions, adding aesthetic value and functionality.

Vulcan was awarded the project due to its ability to meet the aggressive timeframe for both drawings and delivery, which were completed within the promised schedule. The design incorporates multiple skewed walls that integrate seamlessly into the center structure. The roof features several valley conditions, adding to the complexity and visual appeal of the buildings. The War Eagle Career Academy project is a testament to effective collaboration, innovative design, and timely execution.

Tammie is an executive administrative assistant who has seen so much growth and change during her career at Vulcan. She started with the founder and has “been fortunate to be here as the next generation has come on board and taken part in learning the operations of the company,” said Stafford.
In addition to creating lifelong friendships with colleagues, Stafford has seen the company grow and continually focus on creating a better product and fostering meaningful customer relationships. This Georgia native has only ever had one title at Vulcan, and she enjoys interacting daily with every department: contracts, shipping, customer service, accounts receivables, accounts payable, and more.

Prior to her work at Vulcan, Stafford worked for a professional athlete and his model wife in Atlanta. Now, Stafford spends her free time with family and friends and reminiscing about her travels to all 50 states.

Stafford remains committed to furthering Vulcan’s future growth. “I feel as though I have a vested interest in the success of Vulcan and look to continue to be a part of this company for many more years,” said Stafford.
